Katie Hanson - Attorney
Katie grew up and still resides in the Hopkins area. She enjoyed her high school years at Minneapolis Lutheran High School in Bloomington, Minnesota where she was active both on and off the field participating in basketball, softball and student council. After high school, Katie attended Arizona State University and St. Cloud State University, eventually landing at the University of Minnesota to pursue and complete her bachelor’s degree in Political Science. During college Katie was active with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Minneapolis and also had the opportunity to work at a large local law firm and take part in her family’s small business.
Katie has always had a strong interest in social justice and decided to attend the University of St. Thomas School of Law to pursue her law degree. At UST, Katie externed for District Judge George McGunnigle and served as the law clerk at Minnesota’s Office of Lawyer’s Professional Responsibility.
After graduating from UST, cum laude, Katie continued her public service by clerking with the Hennepin County District Court. During her tenure with Hennepin County, Katie had the opportunity to work under then Chief Judge Lucy Wieland, Judge Kathryn Quaintance and Judge William Koch. There, she gained significant experience in the behind the scenes activities of the Court with judges assigned to both the criminal and family law assignments.
In 2011, Katie and partner, Amanda Bloomgren opened the law firm of Bloomgren Hanson Legal with a goal of providing practical people focused legal services. Katie’s practice areas include family law, estate planning, criminal defense and general civil litigation.
Katie’s experience in working on the other side of the court room provides a unique advantage to her clients. Her legal strategy includes a one of a kind background and insight into how and why the court makes its decisions that goes far beyond what can be read in any published legal decision.
