Mary Mooney, Membership Director
Mary P. Mooney has been providing thoughtful, effective, and compassionate representation to clients based on a solid background of over 34 years of experience in legal analysis, research, and writing as well as experience in hearings and trial settings.
During her 34 year career, Mary P. Mooney served as an Assistant County Attorney where she handled contested and uncontested juvenile proceedings regarding dependency, neglect, termination of parental rights, and delinquency as well as detention, adjudication and disposition hearings. She helped establish the first county-wide Interdisciplinary Child Abuse Team. She also handled commitment hearings and all IV-D work including proceedings regarding child support, paternity, and contempt as well as matters related to probate proceedings. She also handled various misdemeanor and felony cases.
Mary P. Mooney has been in private practice for 31 years handling divorce and family law matters, probate proceedings, estate planning and related matters, juvenile proceedingsand residential real estate sales and purchases, and other legal matters. She is a firm believer in alternative dispute resolution having received her initial training as a mediator in 1987.
She has served as a Settlement Conference Referee in Hennepin County District Court in which she assisted the parties and counsel in addressing outstanding issues, conducted settlement negotiations, issued interim orders relative to discovery matters, took testimony from theparties, and reviewed and signed proposed divorce decrees. Ms. Mooney has also served as a Mediator for Ramsey County District Court, assisting parties and counsel in settling pending family court proceedings.
